Crete at the biggest wine fair “Prowein”.

12 winemakers from Crete, participated at the “Prowein” International Trade Fair Wines and Spirits in Düsseldorf, Germany with the great support of the Region of Crete on 15-17 March 2016.

“Prowein”, is the biggest international wine fair of the world. This year, participated over 6.200 exhibitors from 55 nations and 55.000 wine professionals visitors.

The winemakers of Crete, had team participation and a wine bar, where the visitor could taste labels from 31 wineries all over the island. Also the visitor could get information about the 31 wineries that consist “Wines of Crete” and about the 11 indigenous varieties of Crete.

Many professionals visited the common wine bar and among them there were: the Masters of Wine, Demetri Walters MW and Dirceu Vianna Junior MW, Wines of Lebannon, Wine Instructors, Academics on wine, bloggers and G. Delavekouras from the General Consulate of Greece in Düsseldorf.

In the common wine bar, mini seminars on the Cretan varieties were held by the wine lady Iro Koliakoudakis. The winemakers, had a map of Crete translated in German, a map full of oenotouristic spots in Crete. The presence of Crete in Düsseldorf was with live streaming during the days of the wine fair, through the social media.
