Menexes Winery
Domaine Menexes of the Kypriotakis family is located 20 kilometers South of the city of Heraklion and in a short distance from the Minoan settlement at Vathypetro where the oldest wine press (4,000 years old) of Minoan Crete was found.
It is in the Designation of Origin Superior Quality zone of Archanes. The total area of the estate is 2,000 acres and is one of the largest estates in Crete.
The passion for wine and its production always existed in Yiannis Kypriotakis. He knew that this could only be possible if he created the right infrastructure to produce a quality product.
Having been engaged in viticulture for many years, he managed to create within the estate vineyards of approximately 70 acres of local grape varieties such as Vilana, Vidiano, Kotsifali, Mandilaria, Malvasia di Candia Aromatica as well as the international ones, Syrah and Merlot. All the grapes that we use are from our own vineyards.
